Annette Hester
Annette Hester is a senior fellow with the Centre for International Governance Innovation, a senior associate with the William E. Simon Chair in Political Economy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and an economist, writer, and independent scholar. Previously, she was the founding director of the Latin American Research Centre at the University of Calgary. She holds degrees in economics from the University of Calgary. Her areas of expertise are western hemisphere geopolitics, Canadian foreign and trade policy, Latin American economics and politics, energy and energy geopolitics and Alberta International Affairs. Ms. Hester is the author of numerous articles published in Oil and Gas Journal, Estey Centre Journal, and the Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology; as well as chapters in edited volumes; and is a frequent contributor to a variety of newspapers including The Globe and Mail, the Calgary Herald, the National Post and Alberta Oil. She is also currently working in association with the Centre d'études interaméricaines at Université Laval, and ICONE in Brazil. She has recently collaborated with Dr. Sidney Weintraub on the CSIS publication, Energy Cooperation in the Western Hemisphere (2007).
