The marchers were predominantly Hispanic, many originating from Mexico. In September, Time Inc. purchased a house near downtown Detroit as part of its year-long project, Assignment Detroit, to cover the region, "a great laboratory for studying American society, politics and business": "Because we believe that Detroit right now is a great American story. CIGI'09: Towards a Global New Deal

On October 2-4, 2009, CIGI will host its annual conference in Waterloo, Ontario. CIGI'09 will examine the systemic impacts of the global economic crisis and the implications for international economic governance.
